Wanted: Get Well Wishes

I made this card for my Dad recently. He's been recovering from surgery and I wanted to send him something to cheer him up. I don't have very many "guy" stamps, and even fewer "get well" stamps, so I improvised with what I had. In the end I chose to use my Wanted set, which has sort of a western theme.

To create the background, I cut panels from Real Red, Night of Navy and Whisper White card stock. Using Versa Mark ink, I stamped a few of the paisley pattern images over the panels and then embossed with white and black embossing powder. I was going for a bandana look. Each of the panels was also swiped with Tea Dye.

The focal piece was cut using a Mat Stack 1 die from Crumb Cake card stock. I stamped the horse and sentiment and then used a crop-a-dile to set eyelets on either side. I looped a bit of twine through the eyelets to finish it off.

I hope he liked it!

Happy Summer

Summer is officially here so I thought I would share a summery card. This one uses an old SU! favorite, Flower Filled. The small flowers were stamped with Ruby Red ink and the larger ones were rock 'n rolled with Rose Romance and Ruby Red. I used a magenta sharpy to color in clear rhinestones for the flower centers. It actually matches fairly well!

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies, and then stamped them with the polka dot image from Itty Bitty Backgrounds.  The blue panel was impressed with my Wood Grain impression plate and then inked around the edges with Tea Dye. That panel is popped up with foam tape. A little bit of twine finished it off!

Thanks for stopping by!

Father's Day 2012

This is the card I made for my dad and father-in-law for Father's Day. Last year I did something that had more of a vintage vibe, so I went in the opposite direction and kept this clean and modern looking. I used A Little Argyle in Really Rust and Basic Black ink to create the pattern along the bottom. I am seriously loving that stamp set and have to restrain myself from adding argyle to everything lately. Ha! The word "dad" was die cut out of Blue Bayou card stock and then I added a bit of black embroidery floss.

This is the version I made for my two grandfathers. The Crumb Cake layer was impressed with my Linen and Canvas impression plate and also sponged around the edges. I used twine instead of embroidery floss as well.

Thanks for stopping by and happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Modern Wish Big

I have another birthday card to share today. It wasn't originally intended to be a birthday card, but sometimes these things just take their own course! I've been wanting to make a card with a yellow/grey color scheme for a while and I am happy with how it turned out.  The focal point is a Mat Stack 1 die cut stamped with a coordinating image from the Mat Stack 1 Collection set. The "wish big" is from Script Sentiments.

The background panel is Smokey Shadow card stock that was impressed with the Linen and Canvas impression plate. The final touch were some sprigs of die cut leaves tucked behind the focal piece.  I like the clean and modern feel of this. I made two, one to give to a friend who's birthday is this week and one for my shop

Thanks for sharing part of your day with me!

Fly Away Birthday

A very special little boy is turning 1 year old next week so this is the card I made for him.  The theme of his birthday party is fire trucks so I would have loved to make a card to coordinate, but as I don't have any fire truck stamps (clearly a deficiency in my arsenal!) I went with this little red airplane from Fly Away instead. I used primary colors to keep it bright and kid-like. :) Both the plane and the trailing banner are popped up with foam tape.

The blue argyle pattern paper is from Prints Pack, an older retired SU! design. I thought it worked nicely as the sky behind the plane. The banner is tied to the plane with yellow baker's twine and I used pinking shears on the Daffodil Delight layer.  Pretty simple but I hope D. and his parents like it!

Shabby Chic Birthday

I have two cards to share today; same design but different color schemes.  These are actually the designs I made for all of my Mother's Day cards this year and I liked them so much I went ahead and made some birthday variations for the shop.

The main image is from Papertrey's Wreath for All Seasons. So pretty! The wreath is stamped on a Mat Stack 1 die cut, and the birthday sentiment is stamped on a Word Window punch out. Both of those layers are popped up with foam tape.

The Crumb Cake panel was impressed with my Wood Grain impression plate and the bottom was punched with a Martha Stewart Doily Lace Edge border punch.

And here's the second one! Instead of using an impression plate I opted for a pretty pattern paper that closely matched the Mauve Mist card base. It's from SU!'s Springtime Vintage collection.

The paper doilies behind the focal images on both cards were tea dyed. After they were dry I went back and lightly sponged the edges to make them a bit darker.

I hope you enjoyed these cards as much as I enjoyed making them!
